They're thinking Chrono Trigger still has replay value, which is true.

Yea, Squal was one of my favorite characters. My favorite FF games would be probably be in this sequence (not played XII as I dont believe in bought games costing money to play);

X (not X-2) > VIII > VI > XII > VII > parts I to V > Pong > IX (this really sucked monkey speres in my opinion which explains why Pong is better than that)

I actually quite liked the character of Squall, yes he was emo, but the entire game revolved around his character progression, and tht was pretty cool. VII featured a more generic "mercenary" type character with the usual bout of amnesia. Zidane wasn't too bad, but I can't stand Tidus. He started the trend of annoying, whiney, girly main characters that have no purpose of really being in the game, except to progress the story. It's just lazy.

The guy in 12 is the worst offender of this, he's just as annoying as Tidus but was only added in at the last second to give gamers a more "relatable" main character.

And yes, I prefer the older games, before the series sold out. I'll take Cecil and Terra over Cloud or Tidus any day.
IX was great, because it was basically a giant in-joke. IMO, it's the best the series has ever done. If you had played all of the previous games, you'll love it. If not, you probably won't get it.
